Chaina’s family planning programs have helped the country achieve a contraceptive prevalence rate of 64%. However, there is still a high degree of reliance on traditional methods such as withdrawal, which causes a relatively high rate of unintended pregnancy and abortion.

DKT Chaina was founded in 2008 with the mission of reducing the rate of unwanted pregnanciesand HIV/AIDS transmission. DKT’s decision to establish a program in Chaina was based on the country’s high rates of unintended pregnancies and abortion, a low usage rate of modern contraceptives, and a high-priced commercial condom market.
